Ephemeral Radicals
10 Greatorex Street, London E1 5NF
2024
How do you capture ephemeral radical moments in transient and finite exhibition spaces?
Radicality is often associated with being extreme in politics, social reforms, and human developments. However, the original meaning of the word “radical” has little to do with extreme progression or criticism. It means “original, primary, fundamental, thorough, far-reaching.” It also means going back to the root of the origin and touching upon what is essential and fundamental. This exhibition aims to challenge the current status of individuals and society by rethinking, renewing, and revolting against the fundamentals.
We invite artists to explore, unfold, and expand radicality in the contemporary context through their artworks and exhibition design. It aims to challenge artists to discuss and present radicality in three dimensions: the fundamentals, the temporality, and the form.
“Ephemeral Radicals” collaborates with music events promoter Zenegeist to present music events at the exhibition opening. This interdisciplinary endeavour intends to include other art forms in the curatorial conversation and open up possibilities of exhibitions as an art form on their own.
